Saydel CSD Stakeholders;
We sincerely hope this correspondence finds you all safe, in good health, and finding a comfortable summer rhythm with our “new normal” around the COVID-19 Pandemic.
On a more formal note, the Saydel CSD Administration, Staff, Board Members, and community partners have been hard at work navigating through the COVID-19 Pandemic and are committed to planning forward in preparation for the restart of school and in service to our public. In doing so, we have created comprehensive Return to Learn Plans that we would like to share with all stakeholders at this time. Please note that schools have been asked to plan for several unknowns which has culminated into three basic models and are meant to be implemented with fluidity as variables change: 1.) Full Occupancy/Onsite; 2.) Restricted Occupancy/Hybrid; and 3.) Un-Occupancy/Virtual. The Return to Learn Plan includes seven domains for each model: Leadership; Infrastructure; Health and Safety; Iowa Academic Standards; Social, Emotional, Behavioral Health, Equity; and Data.
Additionally, the planning is founded on the following Saydel CSD COVID-19 Return to Learn Objectives: Care for Life, Safety, and Health of Our Public; Stabilize Our Community and Public; and Community Recovery. We are asking all stakeholders to follow the link below in efforts to thoroughly review related documents for greater details on the Return to Learn Plan models, what school will look and feel like under each plan, health and safety, transportation, technology, and a stakeholder survey for further inquiries on our return to school for 2020-21.

Furthermore, we are currently examining the school calendar for adjustments as well as a second calendar to address differing Return to Learn Models in case we find ourselves more restricted due to safety concerns around COVID-19. Once we have vetted the calendars through the proper channels, we will share it with all stakeholders so you may plan accordingly. We will also be closely monitoring COVID-19 guidance (WHO, CDC, IDPH, and IDOE), for model selection to restart the school year, and will continue to communicate as we move through July and August.
In closing, we thank you for your ongoing partnerships, support, and understanding as we navigate through this pandemic together.
Yours in Service,
Todd A. Martin, Saydel CSD Superintendent
